Board Members

The Board shall be the governing body having the direction and superintendence of the Université des Mascareignes and its principal responsibilities shall include:

• devising or approving strategic plans and major policies for the Université des Mascareignes
• overseeing its management and development
• monitoring and reviewing its operations
• providing rigorous accountability standards

The Board of Governors of the Université des Mascareignes shall consist of:

• President, to be appointed by the Prime Minister
• Director-General, to be appointed by the Prime Minister on the recommendation of the Minister
• one person elected by and from the academic staff;
• one person elected by and from the general staff;
• one person elected by and from the students;
• Five persons, to be appointed by the Prime Minister on the recommendation of the Minister,out of whom 3 shall come from the private sector  These  five persons shall include:

• • • one person with substantial industrial experience;
    • one person with qualifications and experience of financial matters;
    • one person who has substantial knowledge and experience in tertiary education and training.
