This programme is designed to cover the essential understanding that you need to prepare for a successful career in banking and financial services.

You will have the opportunity to investigate and analyse a range of issues relating to the financial markets, the core elements of banking and the financial world at large. In the first year you will get to grips with the workings of the sector both from an organisational point of view and in respect of the financial markets. The second year builds specific understanding of the commercial environment in which banks operate. In the final year the focus is on developing strategic concepts and enhancing analytical skills. There is also an opportunity to undertake a work placement within the industry.

Course Overview

This programme is designed to cover the essential understanding that you need to prepare for a successful career in banking and financial services.

Career Prospects

The local financial services sector is fast expanding and Mauritius is striving to become a dynamic and innovative financial hub of international repute. There is an increased demand for well trained graduates in the financial services industry. Graduates will be employed in banks, non-bank financial institutions (insurance, leasing, investment, global business, stockbroking), public and private sector.

Teaching Methods

The degree will be assessed in a variety of ways that are appropriate to the subject and learning outcomes within the programme. A range of assessment tools will be used including written examinations, coursework in the form of written assessment, reports and projects, case studies, and in the final year, a research project. However, some modules will be assessed wholly on the basis of continuous assessments. On successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a BSc(Hons) in Banking and Finance/Diplome National (DN)
