History
Université des Mascareignes (UdM) was established in 2012 through the merger of the Institut Supérieur de Technologie (IST) in Rose-Hill and the Swami Dayanand Institute of Management (SDIM) in Pamplemousses. As the fourth and youngest public university in Mauritius, UdM offers tertiary education in fields such as Engineering, Sustainable Development, Banking and Finance, Management, and Information Technology. It maintains a strong academic partnership with the Université de Limoges in France. Currently, UdM hosts approximately 1,200 students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Most of its degrees are awarded as dual certifications—one from UdM and another from the Université de Limoges—following the European LMD (Licence-Master-Doctorate) framework. This ensures that graduates receive internationally recognized qualifications.
